how to preserve amputated finger or severed part in right way

As a Emergecy house officer i had seen many cut wound, severed part of body. They always come within 6 hour into the hospital but simply they put ice on  that amputed part in a plastic wrap which made impossible  to restore the finger joining. Because cells of the amputated part is dying and irreversible cell injury is already occuring due to unfavorable condition . Which lead to loss of digit or body parts. 

Modes of cut injury: woking without personal hand protection. 

injuries cause by blender machine, meat cutter knife , wooder cutter , wall cutter machine slippage, Tin cutter machines, different advanced factory machine injuries.

So people should understand the exact way to preserve amputed finger or body parts. Little knowledge  can save someone´s body parts and Can prevent  him / her from being handcapped. 

There are 2 technique for preserving a severed part:

1. Wrap the part with in guaze moistened with saline or Ringer´s solution and place it in a sealed plastic bag., which is then placed on ice. 

2. Immerse the part in saline or Ringer´s solution in a plastic bag, which is then placed on ice. 

Then patient should reach hopotal as soon as possible as every minute is countable for limb reconstruction . Properly preserved amputated part( finger, toe ) can be anastomose upto 6 hours of injury . 

Although problems with these techniques seems to be rare, immersion may cause maceration of the preserved part, and the gauze-wrap technique may cauee freezing or strangultion. 

Once in the replant center´s emergency room (Like TU Teaching hospital emergency room) , the patient is resuscitated with IV fluids and treated with IV Antibiotics and tetanus toxoid. X-ray is done and some blood laboratory studies are performed. 

One team of Microsurgeon(plastic surgeon) evaluates the patient and prepares him or her for surgery. And other team takes the amputated part to the operating room for evaluation. 

if everything is feasible to do join the digit (reconstruction), then sequence of joining will be.

Bone>Tendon>Nerve >Vessels>skin closure.  

Prevention of accidental cut injuries :

1. Use personal protective metalic gloves for factory workers.

2. Workplace should have adequate light and illumination. 

5. Proper occupational healthy safety  measure should provide by the authority  where workers work.
